Support BRLS Into the Future – Estate and Planned Giving

A Bequest is a gift designated in your will. Contact your legal advisor to amend your will and decide how to structure your bequest to be deductible for estate tax purposes.

Life Insurance Gift is a gift of a life insurance policy. It involves changing the beneficiary listing on one or more policies perhaps purchased years ago to provide for young children or other family members. Contact your insurance representative or financial advisor. This could result in estate tax savings. Or donate a policy that you no longer need now and possibly qualify for an itemized income tax deduction.

Retirement Plan Gift involves naming the school as beneficiary of the remainder of your retirement plan assets after your lifetime. It may help you avoid making heavily taxed gifts to heirs and allow you to substitute less costly gifts.

There are many other planned giving options. Consult your financial advisor, legal consultant or estate planner to customize any gift. Planned giving donations may be directed to any of the funds listed above. In the case of gifts exceeding $25,000 directed to Trinity Lutheran Church of Baton Rouge, for the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment in support of Baton Rouge Lutheran School, donors may place special restrictions on their gift, and establish and name a separate fund if they so choose. (The Endowment Board acts for the donor and is responsible for the assets and the distributions from the restricted fund.) A two-page endowment gift agreement is completed by each donor to ensure gifts may be properly managed. Gift agreements will be provided by BRLS or the Endowment Board to every donor.
